Early this year Sony upgraded the incredibly popular A7 mirrorless full frame camera with a Mark II version.

Similar in looks and features, the big draw card is IN CAMERA STABILISATION! Sony did the same thing a few years ago with some of their Alpha DSLR’s which was certainly a point of difference and without a doubt it’s a big advantage here too.

The other two key improvements over the previous model are the addition of the XAVC-S codec for video –a very welcome feature. There have also been fairly significant refinements made to the auto focus in the mark II model.

It’s not groundbreaking in any way, but at the same price point the A7 started at it’s a steady improvement; and only a year after the A7 was launched. We’re really excited to see what will happen in the next 12 months with the A7R and A7S variants as well as some more glass in the pipeline.
