Rode have just released a handful of new products and the one we’re possibly most excited about is called the RodeLink – a digital wireless audio system. It couldn’t come soon enough with the frequency re-stack across Australia effective as at January 1 this year. Every other wireless lapel kit will be specific to a set of areas, but this one uses 2.4-5 Ghz consumer frequencies which means you can use it ANYWHERE! Awesome. It sounds great from all reports so far. Admittedly the fact that it will have to compete with many other devices for bandwidth is a little disconcerting at first, but it uses very cool monitoring and switching to ensure you get a clean, interference free signal.
They’re kicking off with a ‘film maker’ kit which includes a transmitter, receiver and lapel microphone. We’re expecting to start shipping from April 2015 so keep your eyes and ears peeled.
