Bose brought a whole new level of class and quality with the SoundLink Mini last year, and now they’ve added a second Bluetooth speaker to run alongside it called the SoundLink Colour.

Bose SoundLink Colour
Unsurprisingly, it comes in different colours: Black, White, Red, Blue and Mint. While the design of it looks very different, the controls on the top are almost identical to the SoundLink Mini, with the exception of swapping ‘Mute’ for ‘Play/Pause’ – a welcome change.

Sadly it does feel very plastic-y – you don’t get that luxurious, premium feel like with the SoundLink Mini, but from what we’ve been told and seen it should still be very durable.

On the plus side, you now get USB charging and a choice of colour, rather than having to purchase an additional cover if you want to brighten things up. Battery life is similar with an 8 hour rating and newly added voice prompts make it even easier to pair with and also give you an indication of battery life.

Most importantly, how does it sound? Pretty good. The Colour is $70 less than the Mini so you wouldn’t expect it to be the same. I feel like it could almost play as loud as the Mini but the audio quality definitely starts to deteriorate quicker as you push the volume. It doesn’t quite have that silky bass that the SoundLink Mini is renowned for however it’s definitely improved if placed near a wall.

It’s really exciting to see Bose step into this end of the market and I think it will be one of the top stocking stuffers this Christmas.
